REARS FLYING NOTICE

If you are not already fully consistent on brake-input terrain flying, do NOT use rear risers on classical speedwings.

Plilots should not touch their rears if they cant justify from at least 800 flights,

they are not a “shortcut to style.” They’re an advanced efficiency tool used by pilots who are very experienced and well aware of consequences from a wrong usage :

  • Less dive arc reduction potential
  • Slower response for roll and yaw control
  • Delayed collapse prevention in turbulent air
  • ‘Glued hands syndrome’ is when a pilot fails to quickly switch to brakes in an urgent situation, leading to an outcome that proper brake input could have prevented.

In ≈ 800 flights you will encounter various tricky situations and should developp the skills to anticipate all your trajectories (flying ahead of your aicraft) and recognise bad trajectories at their earliest stages.

There, you’ll be able to make the right decision:

“Do I need to glide out of my problems?”, then the answer is the bridge.
– “Do I need to dive/turn as tight as possible, or be precise with my wingtips?”, then the answer is brakes.
